Bajan Pride & Beauty.

Celebrating Fifty-Eight Years of Bajan Independence.

Hello world as we approach Barbados fifty-eighth Independence Anniversary on November 30th I would like to introduce to you a Bajan Pride and Beauty, Eboni.

The Motto of Barbados is Pride & Industry, the National Flower of Barbados is Caesalpinia Pulcherrima commonly know as the Pride of Barbados. Hence, to me, Eboni is the Epitome of Bajan Pride and Beauty. Follow along as she tells her story.

"Hello there dear readers my name is Eboni, I live in the Parish of St Michael on the Beautiful Island of Barbados. Although Barbados is a small Island Republic, its peoples commonly known colloquially as Bajans, are industrious, ambitious and intelligent.

I was introduced to the world of modeling at the tender age of thirteen, and it has become a passion of mine since then. Through modeling I have learn to value my- self and others and to have the confidence and appreciation to achieve my goals even while living here in beautiful Barbados.

Barbados is full of many interesting attractions, some of which such as Sunset Point, Animal Flower Cave, Farley Hill, Andromeda Botanic Gardens, Culpepper Island and Shark Hole afforded me and my Photographer Earnest Weekes the opportunity to capture some fabulous photographs.

For me I must admit that some of these locations I was visiting for the first time ever, and they were a source of knowledge and excitement for me thanks to Earnest. Yes you read that right the first time. I am basically a city girl who does not get out to the countryside a lot. My two favorite locations were the Animal Flower Cave and Andromeda Botanic Gardens

The Animal Flower Cave located in the Parish of St Lucy was something to remember. It made me appreciate the beauty of nature even more. The cave which gets its name from the sea anemones that live in the pools of water, is a large under-ground cave that was hewn out over time by the sea. It has various large openings through which sea water enters at high tide filling pools with water. Did someone mention Swimwear?

Andromeda Botanic Gardens located in the Parish of St Joseph is a nature lover paradise for the sights and sounds. Every corner of the garden is filled with beautiful plants and flowers. Green was everywhere, like this beautiful green gown I wore against my chocolate skin, elegance meeting raw beauty, a symbol of raw Bajan Pride and Beauty.

My immediate goal is to keep growing in my modeling career which is very important to me. I also aspire to write books and become a best selling author one day.

As a twenty-two year young adult my inspiration is God, knowing that His timing is always right. I am persuaded that He Who promise is faithful, therefore I am convinced that He will never leave me or forsake me so because of this I will keep going on.

Another inspiration of mine is my mother. Although she is not a Bajan, she has sacrificed everything for my older sister, my twin brother and me. I admire her fortitude, commitment and perseverance during her many challenges. My greatest desire is to one day repay her for the love and dedication that she has shown to us.

Remember my name EBONI. "
